LI&Fung was founded in Guangzhou in 1906. It has now developed into a multinational trading group, operating three major businesses: export trade, distribution and wholesale, and retail. The export business is operated through Li & Fung Limited, the distribution and wholesale business is operated through Li & Fung Distribution, and the retail business is operated through Li & Fung Retail and other privately owned businesses. Li & Fung Group has more than 34,000 employees in 40 economies around the world, and the total turnover of the group in 2008 was US$16.7 billion.

Li & Fung (1937) Limited is the controlling shareholder of Li & Fung Group and is a wholly privately owned Hong Kong company.

The Group's listed businesses include Li & Fung Limited (stock code: 0494), Lee Wo Distribution Limited (stock code: 2387) and Ria Retail Limited (stock code: 08052).

The unlisted retail businesses include Li & Fung Retail, Trinity & Branded Lifestyle, which operate fashion retail businesses, and Kids "R" Us, which operates the Toys "R" Us chain of toy stores.
