Fast fashion brands' social responsibility: demand for organic cotton and recycled materials will increase significantly

Recently, the news that "Zara's parent company, fast fashion giant Inditex, hopes that 10% of its products will use recycled or organic fabrics to cultivate consumers' habit of wearing environmentally friendly recycled clothing" has been frequently forwarded in WeChat Moments. At the same time, Inditex is not just a superficial publicity, but has directly joined hands with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to start researching and developing new high-quality recycled fabrics. Zara's approach undoubtedly reflects the social responsibility that a large company should have.

As we all know, the business philosophy of fast fashion is to transform fashion elements from luxury goods into fast-moving consumer goods, so that people of all income levels can have access to fashion. Most fast fashion products are not valued by their buyers and are easily discarded due to their low prices, rapid changes in fashion trends, and the fact that they are easily "outdated". This kind of discarding undoubtedly brings a large amount of "waste" to society, which is a waste of social resources and creates huge pressure on the environment, becoming a huge social problem. Zara can plan ahead and make timely aftermath actions for these problems that are about to arise in fast fashion, which is undoubtedly handled with a mentality of taking social responsibility. Zara can become a fast fashion giant, and it undoubtedly has enough vision, mind and responsibility!

In fact, from the situation this year, the increasing demand for GOTS/OCS/GRS factory inspections has made Xisheng realize that more and more large brands are gradually paying attention to the field of organic and recycling, and are increasingly making demands on their suppliers in this regard. In the near future, having a GOTS/OCS/GRS certificate in hand may become a magic weapon for you to defeat other competitors.

It can be expected that at the Canton Fair in the second half of this year, there will be more and more clothing foreign trade companies that will place their own GOTS/OCS/GRS certificates on their booths. Xiesheng suggests that those companies that do not have the certificates should hurry up, as it will take time to get the certificates. If competitors have them but we don’t, it will not only be embarrassing, but we may also lose a lot of business opportunities!
