Some sellers are claiming they will be closing their eBay stores due to changes to eBay UK store fees that will take effect on April 1. But before then, there are a few things sellers need to be aware of. eBay platform expert Laura Mathieson said that if sellers have GTC listings, once they close their store, there is no way to modify them. From November 1, 2016, eBay UK opened GTC listings to all corporate sellers. Previously, only Store sellers were allowed to post such listings. GTC listings have many benefits, such as longer product sales records, easier listing management, and out-of-stock options, which make GTC listings more attractive than regular listings. After a seller creates a GTC listing, if they close their eBay store, they will not be able to modify the GTC listing. The GTC listing will continue to run and update every 30 days, but when the seller receives a new order or edits the listing, they will not be able to adjust the quantity of the product on the listing, nor can they edit the listing. It is not clear whether this is eBay's rule or just a system bug. Laura said that if you close your eBay store and restore it within 30 days, all settings will be reset and GTC listings can be modified again, but if you restore it after 30 days, this will not be possible. If a seller closes their eBay store, they can either continue to run listings that cannot be edited, or close all GTC listings, or re-list GTC listings after closing the store, but this will result in the loss of all sales history. eBay seller Sam said: "We will not close the eBay store, but will downgrade to a regular store. We even thought about opening a second regular store, focusing purely on budget and playing with prices, because it is easier to succeed with low prices on eBay than to provide fast shipping. We don't need too many listings, but GTC listings are necessary for us. We have some hot-selling products and often need to restock them." |
