ORC—Origin Surcharge Origin Receipt Fee

ORC—Origin Surcharge Origin Receipt Fee

ORC, the abbreviation of Origin Received Charges, means "origin surcharge" or "origin receipt charge" in Chinese. This charge is a derivative of terminal charges (THC). On some routes of shipping containers exported from Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan and Yunnan, shipowners use ORC instead of THC terminal charges.

Some common questions about ORC fees:

1. Fee Standard

The current ORC fee standard is: USD141/20GP; USD269/40GP, 40HQ

The difference between ORC fee and THC fee:

THC: TERMINALHANDLINGCHARGES Terminal charges, also known as terminal handling charges, ORC is a derivative of THC. The current difference is that in Guangdong and other regions, THC and ORC do not coexist. Shipping companies generally do not charge ORC for routes that charge THC, and do not charge THC for routes that charge ORC. In addition, the fee standards are also different. Taking Guangdong and other regions as an example: the THC fee standard is: RMB 750/20GP; RMB 1100/40GP, 40HQ. In 2014, some shipping companies have increased their THC charges. Please refer to the actual freight forwarding quotation.

2.ORC belongs to the scope

Regardless of THC or ORC fees, they all fall within the scope of FOB. Exporters engaged in FOB trade need to pay ORC fees or THC fees when exporting a full container.

3. Routes that need to pay ORC fees:

At present, in Guangdong, taking Shenzhen as an example, for general export to Europe, America, Central and South America, Israel and some African routes, shipowners use ORC fees, while in Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea, the Middle East, most of Africa, and Australia, shipowners use THC fees. However, different shipping companies have different situations, and some individual shipowners charge ORC on routes where most shipowners charge THC.

This is the end of the information about ORC charges in this issue. If you want to get more information about ORC charges, please pay attention and we will continue to answer your questions~
