When recycling scrap tires, should we choose ISCC EU or ISCC PLUS certification?

In ISCC, the use of scrap tires is defined as follows: Renewable component of end-of-life tyres Tires are made of non-renewable petroleum products and natural rubber. Suppliers who use scrap tires to make fuels need to develop a fuel measurement and sampling (FMS) system and need to demonstrate how they allocate the renewable part according to the output when scrap tires are converted into fuel, because the production process produces solid, liquid and gas components.

Use scrap tires, through refining equipment, to generate pyrolysis oil and carbon black, which can be used as fuel oil and chemicals.
Pyrolysis oil can be used directly as fuel oil or refined into diesel. Carbon black is an indispensable raw material for the rubber industry and has many applications in the plastics industry. So which system should be used, ISCC EU or ISCC PLUS? It depends on the application of scrap tire products in the downstream supply chain. If the intermediate products from scrap tires are processed into biofuels and sold in the EU, ISCC EU certification is required. If it is used to produce chemicals in ISCC PLUS or to sell biofuels in markets outside the EU, choose ISCC PLUS. Of course, all materials included in the ISCC EU qualified material list can also be used in the ISCC PLUS supply chain. At present, companies that use scrap tires for further recycling and have passed ISCC EU or ISCC PLUS certification are mainly distributed in the United States, Sweden, Poland, Germany and South Africa.
