African Cotton Certification Process

African Cotton Certification Process

Step 1: Buy CmiA Cotton

This is the most important step. Buy cmia certified cotton from an authorized trader. Please order CmiA cotton explicitly because: African cotton is not a sufficient quality characteristic. In addition, it must be stated "cotton made in Africa" on contracts and invoices. Please send an appropriate document as proof of purchase.

Step 2: Register your company in ATAKORA

At this stage you will be asked to provide additional information about your product and to nominate a contact person to coordinate the integration with CmiA.

Step 3: Pay the registration fee and receive the certificate

After paying the registration fee, your spinning mill will receive a CmiA certificate valid for one year and will be added to all relevant lists and databases as a CmiA yarn supplier. Potential customers now know that they can buy CmiA yarn from your spinning mill.

Step 4: Mass balance monitoring

As a registered spinning mill, you have the right to produce and sell the same amount of CmiA yarn as the CmiA cotton you previously purchased. As soon as your mass balance becomes negative, new CmiA cotton must be ordered.

Step 5: Report

Your company is required to report your CmiA cotton purchases and CmiA yarn sales to ATAKORA on a monthly basis. This applies even if your spinning mill is a multi-part or vertical production operation and produces CmiA yarn for your own use.

Revocation of CmiA certificate

Incomplete or incorrect monthly reporting or a negative quality balance of CmiA cotton not ordered in time will result in the revocation of the spinner's previously valid certificate. This includes removal from the corresponding databases and lists and sending a notification to all CmiA partners. However, re-registration at a later date is possible after appropriate rework.
